Pinnawala Orphanage started in 1972 is a sanctuary for about 60 or more elephant orphans who are harmless. The inhabitants are accustomed to its feeding & bathing times and also to its human visitors.
Pinnawala Zoo is the Sri Lanka’s first ever open concept zoo, which enables the visitors to witness the animals close to their natural habitats.
Yala, the strict nature reserve combined with a national park takes you closer to the untamed world of wildlife. It is divided into 5 blocks out of which 2 are open for the public, leaving around 130,000 hectares as protected area.
This park records 32 spices of mammals including endangered species such as sloth bear, leopard, elephant, water buffalo, wild boar, spotted deer & golden jackal.
Located close to the Southern tip of the Island, Mirissa has a breathtaking sandy beach where you can sit back & relax for days watching the sunrises & sunsets.
